|
ACTIVITY 1:
SEMINAR
The Experience of Professional Caregivers
in Pediatric Palliative Care (Part One)
Description
|
|
This seminar provides an introduction to the module by beginning
with the experience of professional caregivers. Responding to the
first part of a two-part video, participants are invited to identify
salient examples from their own experiences with children and families,
explore the impact of sharing personal feelings in those relationships,
and identify the challenges inherent in remaining connected to children
and families during times of acute suffering.
Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
- Identify relevant examples from one's professional experience that highlight
meaningful engagement with children and families.
- Explore the potential for positive and negative ramifications when health
care professionals remain emotionally connected to children and
families at the end of life.
- Recognize a range of coping strategies professionals use in these situations,
and the need for effective organizational support structures.
